Wildlife Ponds

Having a pond in your garden, no matter what size, is one of the most beneficial things you can do to help wildlife. Even a small area of water can attract an amazing diversity of species; plants and invertebrates both within in and without the water, amphibians, birds, mammals.  It’s this amazing variety of creatures and the aesthetic appeal of a well constructed water feature that make these particular projects so appreciated by customers.

Good Grounds and Gardens specialises in creating wildlife ponds (and associated structures) and we have had a long experience of installing and maintaining them in school grounds, nature reserves and private gardens.

We can also help in adding improvements to existing ponds.  This might include incorporating additional planting with a greater variety of more wildlife supporting  water plants or adding associated features such as adjacent rock piles and gravel beaches.

We also undertake a number of pond ‘rescues’ each year: removal of vegetation and/or de-silting where the pond has become overwhelmed, replacing a pond liner with a high quality butyl liner where a pond is leaking, re shaping the pond structure to improve a variety of water levels and planting depths, removal of invasive and undesirable plant species.

We undertake large scale (Lake) vegetation management and removal using a sensitive, low impact methodology.

In all our projects we use a very high quality butyl liner and a wide variety of native pond plants.

An adjacent bog garden (aka soggy ground) also provides an additional habitat and plant diversity.
